Kia ora koutou,
The Ministry of Education has advised us to close the school tomorrow due to the fire nearby at the Fitzherbert Tavern. The fire involves asbestos-containing materials, and there is concern about asbestos particles and ash debris being carried by the wind onto the school grounds.
As a precautionary measure, the school will be closed tomorrow to ensure the health and safety of all staff and students. There is potential risk that air conditioning systems, water supply, and outdoor areas could be affected by airborne contaminants.
Specialist testing may be required to determine whether any asbestos debris or ash has settled on the school site before we can safely reopen.
We will provide an update tomorrow once further information and test results are available. Please do not come onto the school grounds until we confirm it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we follow the guidance of the Ministry of Education and emergency services to ensure everyone’s safety.
Hello Parents,
This is a reminder about our move to the Hero app for all school communication, as mentioned in our last newsletter.
We are transitioning to Hero because it aligns with the refreshed curriculum reporting requirements and will allow us to provide you with better, more streamlined communication about your child's learning and school events.
Action Required:
Download the Hero App: Please download the app to your smartphone or access the web portal as soon as possible.
Give Swimming Permission: Permission for our upcoming swimming program is now live on the Hero app. Please log in and complete the survey/permission form right away. This is essential for your child to participate.
